Designing the ELVN identity in public

The identity was developed through multiple visible iterations instead of appearing as a finished result without history.

The ELVN identity did not arrive fully resolved.

It began with a strict direction: black and white, custom uppercase lettering, Swiss-inspired spacing and no visual shorthand borrowed from speculative crypto culture.

The first system

The first version established the geometric wordmark and a hidden relationship with the number 11. It also revealed the parts that were not yet strong enough:

  • spacing was still too mathematical;
  • the monogram had more information than it needed;
  • the V was not yet distinctive enough to carry the interface alone.

The system was reviewed rather than quietly replaced.

Five controlled refinements

Five refinements tested optical spacing, terminal behavior, stroke balance and different levels of asymmetry in the V.

The goal was not to select the most decorative option. It was to understand which decisions remained convincing when every presentation device was removed.

What survived

The strongest idea was the quietest one: the E and L use matching vertical stems. They create a structural connection to 11 without turning the number into an icon.

The final V became a proprietary signature with a subtly shifted inner axis and a controlled landing. It can function alone without becoming an arrow, triangle or chevron.
